From Heatwaves to Heirloom Mums: What’s Blooming at Daydream Manor

Hey y’all—welcome back to Daydream Manor Flower Farm! While the Louisiana heat is doing its absolute most (106° and climbing), I’ve retreated to the kitchen to catch y’all up on all things floral, farm, and behind-the-scenes hustle.
Summer blooms have officially wrapped, and the high tunnel is mostly cleared—except for our gorgeous heirloom mums, which are gearing up to steal the show this fall. I’ve also direct-seeded marigolds and sunflowers to pair with those mums (fingers crossed they survive this heat and my travel schedule).
Speaking of travel, I’ve got a whirlwind couple of weeks ahead—Texas, New York, and a long-awaited visit to Niagara Falls with Mr. Daydream. So seed starting is on pause, but the mums are getting all the love they deserve.
Inside the tunnel, I’m experimenting with some stunning Curcuma blooms—green chocolate and blush pink beauties that might just make the cut for future offerings. And yes, I’m still figuring out how to harvest them without wrestling the bulbs.
Behind the scenes, it’s full-on business mode: accounting meetings, inventory planning (thanks to a floral haul from a closing grocery store), and revamping how I manage my three businesses—Daydream Manor, my booth at Lee Street, and The Mercantile at the Manor. I’m even sewing up a storm to prep our wreath sashes for fall and Christmas markets. Y’all, these designs are gorgeous.
So while the fields may be quiet, the hustle is loud—and the mums are just getting started.
